IADT Fashion Show at Millenia
So last night I went to a fashion show by the International Academy of Design & Technology here in Orlando. It was hosted at Millenia. With shoes and accessories donated by Gucci (which the hostess donned head to toe) and BCBG. I’m sure there were other companies involved as well because I spied a model in the Yves Saint Laurent “Divine” bootie. My favorite part about the shoe being the heel.
It’s Fashion Week here in Orlando as dubbed by Millenia I suppose. They have a weeks worth of events featuring model Paulina Porizkova. You can get more info here.
I was very indecisive about whether I was going to go or not because I’m sick. I ended up going obviously and I forgot to grab my camera so I didn’t take any pictures. I totally regretted it about 2 designers in. I found video on youtube though of my favorite from the whole show. Lile Useche. The 3rd look in this last designer’s collection (my favorite)was gorgeous. You can’t even see the sequin detailing that well but it was really well done. After the 4th look though I was like okay we get it with the sequin fringe already. I love the structure he played with in the 5th and 6th looks even though I think the 6th look would have been better if it was one whole piece. The last two dresses I just want play in quite frankly.
I also enjoyed Michael Boots, Ethan Starr’s, & Megan Lester (the collection I felt was most wearable) who I talked to briefly after the show and she was so sweet and cute. I loved her…I think 2nd look which was right on trend with Spring / Summer 2010 with those deep v-neck tops and dresses a la Cynthia Steffe. She also had these amazing shorts, oh man I need those in my life. We exchanged business cards and I went to her website but it’s underdeveloped as in there’s nothing there but a contact form. The pages are there just no content. I shouldn’t talk though…I’m going to be doing an overhaul of this site starting with www.riamichelle.com and building it as a network and this will be the blog portion and that will serve as the portfolio/image consultant portion.
If you don’t follow me on twitter, here’s what my business cards look like. Both designed by Matt and he animated me haha.

My 1st design. The company didn’t do a good job printing them though. So half are unusable.

The 2nd design. Switched companies, these are 1.5 sized, colors came out darker than they were in Corel though.
So the search continues for a good company. In the meantime I have tons of cards to give out lol. Speaking of which I have to mail these to my friend in Japan. Dont’ forget!! The next design will be more professional with a foil print. Okay so this has ended up a lot longer than I planned. So let me wrap it up sorry.
Anyway I’m glad I ended up going. My friend Miles was telling me about this guy he thought I’d love “Kid Prince” and I ended up running into him at the show and I did indeed love him haha. We’ve been chatting though he lives in Tampa. Why do all the best people live far away from me? Though Tampa is only 1 hour away I’m talking about my other friends in West Palm, Miami, Chicago, Maryland etc.
GIVEAWAY REMINDER: Also if you haven’t already signed up for my BCBGirls shoe giveaway. Make sure you check it out.
